Great Idea! Milkies Milk-Saver for Breastfeeding Moms

What a great idea! Milkies Milk-Saver is a contraption that collects the precious breastmilk that leaks while you're feeding on the opposite side. I had no idea that such a thing existed when I was breastfeeding my son a year ago! Milkies Milk-Saver is BPA free and holds up to 2 ounces of milk--or you can attach it to any milk storage bag. Sure, you could hold a bottle in one hand and try to catch the leaking milk, but this hands-free gizmo seems like a much more awesome solution.

But, here's my question: does it work well? You'll have to help me out mommy friends--have any of you tried the Milk-Saver and loved it?

I was really bad about pumping with Andrew since it was easier just to breastfeed as a stay-at-home mom, but with this next baby I'd like to build up a better supply. I'll definitely be spending the $26.50 to get a Milk-Saver from Amazon just to give it a go. And of course I'll let you know how it works out come next spring!

  1. I honestly don't remember leaking all that much milk from the opposite side while nursing... maybe just a trickle at let down? I've heard that it happens though, so let us know if it works out! :)

Also, forgive me if I'm being dense, but I'm not sure how this will help when pumping or building supply?

  2. I actually leaked quite a lot from the opposite side in the first couple months, so I'm thinking that this might work for me if it is the same this time around. I probably leaked 2+ ounces, so if I can bank all of that with each feed, I can probably get a nice little starter stash going without much effort. That is, of course, if it really does the job of collecting without spilling! I've heard of some mothers simply holding a bottle below their opposite breast while feeding to catch any leakage--but I don't think I'll have enough hands to juggle that!

And, I don't think this will help with pumping, per se, but it can help me bank some extra milk when I'm lazy and do not pump! I'll let you know if it works!
